Mr Cheetham is simply the best, has such a nice manner makes you feel totally relaxed even when you are receiving bad news. I would recommend the whole team every time, if i ever need another operation I hope it's Mr Cheetham who operates on me.
Plus he didn't accept a bribe of my partner to sew up my mouth.

As soon as I met Mr Cheetham I knew he was the surgeon that I wanted in charge of my care. He is straightforward and very easy to talk to. He is patient and answered all my questions carefully and explained things in great detail. He is approachable, humorous and empathetic. He is also a very skilled surgeon. My family and I have much to be grateful to him for.

Mr Cheetham put me at my ease immediately I met him. He was welcoming, jovial, he listened, located the problem and acted promptly to ensure the surgery went ahead as quickly as possible. He even made me laugh! I felt reassured and comfortable on the day of surgery when meeting him again. He was very clear post surgery, giving me very clearly the findings of the procedure, and gave recovery advice and information. At the post op consultation a few weeks later he again very clearly told me of the outcome of the surgery, and gave me the number to call should I need to contact him again if I were to have any concerns or future health problems. He made a very stressful time much more bearable. He knows his stuff - my magic man!

Mr Cheetham has been my surgeon from my first emergency admission into hospital in 2013 and right through to my third and hopefully final surgery in March 2015. Mr Cheetham has been open and honest at every stage, explaining all my procedures in a clear and understandable way. I found him a caring and compassionate man who I trusted implicitly. Mr Cheetham always made me feel at ease with his genuine nature, while always being very professional. He found time for light hearted moments which helped put me at my ease, at an otherwise very traumatic time for me. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to other patients.

Mr Cheetham explained everything to me in great detail about my forthcoming surgery, he gave me great confidence that everything would be okay, I felt I was in good hands. I found him very easy to talk to and ask any questions that needed to be answered, even about the score of the forthcoming Man United game. I am now recovering from my surgery at great speed and look forward to continuing my life as normal and this is all down to the expertise of Mr Cheetham. Many thanks .

I qualified from University College London in 1994. Following my MD thesis at Imperial College I continued my surgical training throughout the West London region including specialist training at The Chelsea and Westminster, St Mary's and completed my training at St Mark's Hospital for Colorectal Diseases. My specialist interest is in colorectal pathology both benign and malignant. I have a particular interest in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery having been fortunate to be selected for the national laparoscopic fellowship. Approximately 95% of my practice is performed laparoscopically.
I am the Clinical Director for General Surgery at WHHT and Colorectal Lead and Chair of the Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team. I work exclusively at the West Hertfordshire NHS Trust.
